It Began With a Bus Stop
No one likes to “hurry up and wait” – especially kids – so you can imagine how it felt in September 2021, shooing the kids out the door in the mornings only to wait…and wait…for a school bus that often came late thanks to whatever pandemic-related screwup was happening that day.
Well, what can you do? The kids complained. Parents made cranky mental calculations about driving the kids instead. Mike thought that, if they were all stuck there anyway, it would be nice to have a place to sit down.
So, he built a bench. Nine feet long, two spare boards balanced on a pair of tree stumps, with a bit of weatherproofing against the autumn rain. It was just a matter of dragging the pieces across the street and tacking it all together.
The response was instant and appreciative. And Mike, being the type of guy who has trouble walking away from a project, thought it would be only fair to make benches for all the stops on the neighborhood bus route...
So yeah, that’s pretty much how it happened. We make benches (and other stuff, too).
